10:28 AM
As we depart KB's house on our way to Mammoth Cave we pass the Blue Grass Airport where Flight 5191 crashed the day before. News media is still covering the situation from across the street.
10:37 AM
We drive into our first of three torrential downpours in Kentucky. Dad slowed down to 50 mph. If I had been driving, I would have slowed down to 25 mph!

Unfortunate to note, even heavy rains do not wash away the stench of skunk roadkill! Stinky!
11:47 AM
We stop at Lincoln's Boyhood Home

12:09 AM
We visit Abe Lincoln's Birthplace

2:07/1:07 PM
We enter Central Time Zone
1:45 PM
We reach Mammoth Cave National Park

5:09 PM
We drive by the National Corvett Museum. We decide it is not worth stopping...
(Note:
Upon entering this fine state, I decided we needed to honor Kentucky by eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Much to our surprise, Kentucky is not as fond of KFC as we had thought. We had our first KFC sighting around 11:00 am and did not see another until 6:59 pm as we approached the Kentucky-Indiana state border! Only 2 KFC's in Kentucky?!? If Colonel Sanders was still alive, he'd be ashamed!)
6:59 PM
To our relief, we finally find a KFC and stop for dinner in Henderson, KY.

Official Kentucky Roadkill Tally:
2 Raccoon
1 Possible Hawk
2 Squirrel
2 Skunk
1 Opossum
4 "Dark, brown, and furry" (aka indistinguishable)
7:35 PM
We enter Indiana and stop for the night.
DAY TWO SUMMARY:
Total miles traveled - 287.2
States driven through - 2
